Our Mission Statement
The mission statement of the Creston Fire Department is to preserve and protect life and property from fire and other catastrophes both natural and man made, provide education and training to the public in the area of fire prevention and determination of cause of fires in the City of Creston and it's fire district.
The department will fulfill the mission by the following actions:
Provide fire suppression-rescue and emergency response capabilities with adequate staffing, apparatus and equipment. The department will provide this service to the citizens of Creston 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
Provide fire prevention services including plan reviews, public fire education and fire investigations.
Provide initial response capabilities, assure public safety and perform remedial actions at hazardous materials/ waste incidents.
Maintain adequate records of all fire suppression, fire prevention and hazardous materials incidents.
Respond to request for mutual aid from surrounding communities on an as available basis.
Goals *Provide personnel proficient in duties of firefighting and rescue operations. *Maintain efficiency in emergency operations through careful planning, organization and use of resources. *Reduce fire losses due to arson, negligence or code violations.
Objectives *Comprehensively train all firefighters to handle all types of emergencies to which they may respond in a safe and efficient manner. *Provide educational presentations to the public on fire safety and fire hazard awareness. *Ensure the safety of firefighters by adhering to accepted operation procedures and providing adequate protective equipment.
